Today development sector managers have a broad range of tasks and roles. Not only do they have to be excellent technical managers they also have to manage a diverse group of people in a multi-cultural environment. Effective implementation of the project requires workload distribution, performance review, and personal coaching. As such the project manager needs to have a variety of soft skills under his belt to deal with the day to day operations of a project.

Effective communication is difficult enough by itself, and in a multicultural context it can become even more challenging. Lear the science of two way communication and develop your communication skills

Dealing with staff

Being able to manage a diverse group of people requires motivating them, coaching, delegation, negotiation, managing teams, giving and receiving feedback and conflict resolution. Practice and role play these skills with your peers to develop your personal skills.

Time management

Learn to manage your own time and lead by example
